Welcome
|
You are entering Elba on Route 98 from the south. Route 98 runs directly north and south through the Village of Elba and the Town of Elba and forms the Village's Main Street. |
These are the mucklands
and uplands, where men and women of hardy farm stock raise
potatoes, onions, corn, dairy herds, scholars, and atheletes. The
tiny village, just six miles north of Batavia, doesn't even have
a traffic light. Elba is an easy place to raise a family, where
life revolves around the churces and school and goes by a much
slower pace.
Elba is one of the
loveliest little towns in its own quiet way, with its glistening
white houses surrounded by spacious green lawns, shaded by
stately old trees and glorified by gardens from which old
fashioned flowers lend color and fragrance. Many are drawn here
for the serene surroundings, our excellent educational system and
the community spirit that is felt as soon as one visits our
little town.
Like our forefathers, the
present generation finds comfort in raising their children here
and expresses their belief that the next generation will feel the
same way. May the next 175 years prove as kind to Elba and its
people as the first 175 years have been.
